Hot springs on the banks of the Nubra river
Do you want to experience the real Nubra valley? Would you like to bath in hot spring water that is said to cure skin diseases while admiring the landscape of the Nubra river winding its way through stunning mountains? Can you imagine yourself strolling through green fields and looking out onto the Nubra river, discovering a small monastery nestled in the mountains on the opposite side of the valley? This monastery is called Ensa monastery and is just a 15 minute drive or a short hike from Panamik. It is said to have been built in 1433 and is one of the few monasteries where you can still admire paintings that haven’t changed since centuries. Around the monastery, a green oasis of old trees and a grass plateau are the perfect resting spot on a sunny afternoon. From here, you have a great view on the eye-shaped village of Panamik.
Panamik is located 140 km from Leh and reachable by bus or taxi. From Diskit, there is a daily bus in the afternoon that takes you there in less than two hours.
