Just 20 km from Skampuk, you can ride a camel through the sand dunes of Hunder and visit the famous Diskit monastery. Here you can admire the 33 meters Maitreya Buddha statue and the largest and oldest monastery of Nubra valley constructed in the 14th century. From Skampuk you can get to Turtuk in under two hours.
